In an antiques town, Inside Out stands out with mod décor

SNOHOMISH — Shopping here is synonymous with antiques, and rightly so. The main street in the quaint downtown area is lined with shops offering enormous vintage accent and collectible possibilities.

But even if you're not an antiques junkie, this town still keeps the landscape fresh with stores like Inside Out Home & Garden, which embraces a more modern aesthetic.

Inside Out, owned by mother and daughter duo Jackie Kiter and Allison Olsen, balances a homey garden vibe with an urban, modern outlook, mixing contemporary furniture with sparkly chandeliers and scented candles throughout the cozy store. The result is charming eclectic.

Why should you go? At Inside Out, you can find plenty of gifts or browse for furniture, accessories or local art among the mix of feminine and modern.

You'll see playful lighting, including a glass bubble lamp ($195.95) or an arty white lamp with black swirls ($279.95) that could work as centerpieces for a room. A solid mahogany chair from Sitcom's Edo line ($459) with an open back is modern, yet functional.

Inside Out specializes in canvas transfer art and carries graphic Sean Fox artwork and local artists, and has elegant accessories like a wooden vase lined with a glass vase ($29.95-$39.95) to accommodate fresh flowers.

For those looking for functional decoration outside, pick up a copper rain chain ($99.50) that would look great on a deck, or light up your exterior with kerosene lamps ($24.95-$39.95).

What's functional? You could practically throw a party based on a trip here, with whimsical invitations; plenty of fragrant candles; wrapping paper with polka dots or chandeliers; and party foods including fig jam, red onion confit, crackers and chocolate. There are also options for cleanup, including feather dusters ($29.95) and Caldrea cleaning supplies.

And for new moms or people headed to baby showers, there are baby books, baby-themed invitations and even gentle laundry detergent.
